Josephine Ruffin

Josephine Ruffin is currently the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of Communities In Schools Los Angeles West, the newest of 200 Communities in Schools affiliates in America.

Ms. Ruffin worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for over 30 years?starting as an Intermediate Clerk Typist and completing her service in the position of Assistant Administrative Analyst. During her service with LAUSD, she served on the Personnel Commission Interview Committee and was appointed by the Superintendent of Schools to serve on the District-wide Shared Decision Making Council, incorporating all LAUSD stakeholders--administrators, teachers, parents/community and classified staff. This integrated process stressed how important it is to use all resources effectively to collaborate with all teachers, supportive stakeholders and nurturers.

In addition, Ms. Ruffin earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the field of Speech Pathology and learned first-hand what is involved in working with students with special needs. This experience showed her that along with educating young people to be their best, comes caring compassion and dedication.

Ms. Ruffin serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Educational Office Employees (AEOE), a professional network for office employees who provide scholarships to high school and adult school students. She has received many awards and accolades for her professionalism and the personal attributes she brings to every position held. She strives to share with young people whatever insight she has learned from her life experiences to show them how they can also achieve academically and socially.
